Principal’s Message
Hi Families!
Next month’s #BetterTogether MVWSD theme is advocacy. The ability to advocate for oneself and others is a valuable skill that empowers individuals to navigate challenges, get needs met, and create positive change.
This requires strong communication skills. We can encourage students to be clear with their message and use language that is culturally responsive and communicated in a respectful and constructive manner. By creating a supportive environment where student voices are heard and valued, children develop confidence in speaking up for themselves and advocating for their needs.
Critical thinking is another important component. We can encourage our students to think critically about the world around them. We want children to analyze situations from different perspectives and consider the implications of their actions. This will help foster a sense of agency and empowerment.
Lastly, building resilience. We can teach our students how to cope with adversity, persevere in the face of obstacles and learn from their experiences. By incorporating these strategies, we can empower our students to be confident, compassionate, and effective advocates for oneself and others.
On April 3rd, we will have Safe Routes to School on campus engaging 3rd and 4th grade students in a bike rodeo. This event is to teach students to be aware of their surroundings while biking around the community.
Respectfully,
Principal Kobata
