Principal’s Message

4/24

Hi Families!

Summer is just around the corner and while it’s a great time for rest, relaxation, and fun, it’s also important to find ways to keep our students’ academic skills sharp.  Students can experience some learning loss during the summer months.  Here are some tips to help prevent this slide and ensure your child is ready to hit the ground running when school resumes:

  1. Read Daily: Read 20 minutes per day.  A fun way to do this is to create a summer reading list together or visit different libraries to discover new books.

  2. Practice Math Skills: Math can be practiced everyday through cooking, budgeting, shopping, and playing board games.

  3. Explore STEM Activities: This could include simple science experiments  or visiting science museums.

  4. Write regularly: Keeping  a summer journal or writing letters to a friend or creating stories are a great way to be creative and practice writing at the same time.

And what is even better is that you can incorporate any of these activities on trips or outings.

We are so proud of our 5th graders!  Promotion is around the corner.  Please plan for promotion to start at 12:15pm on Thursday, May 30th.  More details will be coming soon.

Our last Parent U is on Monday, April 29th at 5:00pm.  Please sign up here:  Parent U RSVP Link

Lastly, School Site Council needs a few new board members. There are 2 spaces we need to fill.  Here is the nomination form.   Please submit this form by May 10th.

Respectfully,

Principal Kobata
