Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

Last week I talked about Women’s History Month which will start in March.  I want our students to see the influential women we have right here in our own community.  If any of the women would like to take a video showcasing your career and send it to me, I would greatly appreciate it.  During this video if you could talk about 1.  What you do on a daily basis (show your work space if that is allowed), 2. Talk about how your decisions positively impact the people around you, 3.  One piece of advice to our students.  Please keep the videos to  about 3 minutes.  Send them to me at [email protected]

I also want to take a moment to let everyone know our night custodian Mr. Jose is retiring.  He started in 1988 at Castro and spent 14 years there before coming to Bubb in 2002.  He has been an integral part of our community.  He has always gone above and beyond, demonstrating kindness, diligence, and a true passion for his work.  Although we are saddened by Mr. Jose’s departure, we also celebrate the beginning of a well-deserved retirement.

I wanted to thank all families that come to school everyday on time.  Approximately 30% of all California students are chronically absent. One of our goals at Bubb is to have students in school everyday and reduce chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism has a lasting impact on a student’s academic, social and emotional development. We have lots of great things happening at Bubb such as living classroom, art, STEAM, music, Project Cornerstone, and many strategies to address student needs, including small group reading instruction, English language development, and strong, differentiated instruction with a focus on priority standards. Students need to be on time everyday in order to take advantage of these services and resources. Thank you for prioritizing your child’s attendance!

Lastly, I want to remind everyone that there is a virtual Principal’s Coffee on Wednesday, March 6th at 5pm.  I will be updating what is happening at Bubb.  The link to register is below: https://mvwsd.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUofu-gqjsuEtF7yZvxLaOOtfwKhyY5ZxH2

Respectfully,

Principal Kobata

School News

Kudos to our Cubs!

February was a busy month at Bubb. Our Bubb Cubs commemorated Black History month by creating a collaborative poster with inspirational African Americans. It’s displayed on the office window.

They celebrated the end of Trimester 2 with their Buddy classrooms. Big Buddies and Little Buddies held hands in a circle and passed hula hoops around. Together they created collaborative posters of how they can be KIND.  Check out the recap video in this week's morning meeting posted on our Facebook page.

Finally, Room 11 would like to thank the Bubb community for their kind donations for their food drive. They collected over 70 pounds of non perishable food for CSA.  #kindnessmatters
