Principal’s Message

Hi Families!

As we partner together to provide your child the best educational experience, I wanted to share some information on how we can collectively help our students discover their power to be allies helpers in our community and beyond.

Academics are important and so is emotional well-being.  Teaching our students to be empathtic, compassionate, and supportive of others is more important than ever.  By emphasizing these qualities early on, we not only foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity but also empower our students to become agents of positive change.

As the influential adults, we need to model empathy, kindness, and inclusivity in our interactions with others.  We can do this by having discussions about considering the feelings and experiences of others. By understanding different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds, will help them see the world through the eyes of others.

Through our Social Emotional assemblies with Soul Shoppe, we learned the importance of treating others with respect and dignity regardless of differences in race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or ability.  We can celebrate diversity and embrace unique qualities that make each of us special.  We can use inclusive language to show respect for people's identities.

I appreciate the partnership in nurturing the growth of the next generation of compassionate leaders.

We are looking forward to our Open House which will be on Thursday, March 21st.  We will also have the first orientation for any new family that will be joining us in the 2024-2025 school year.  The schedule will be as follows:

5:30-7:00 Art Show in MUR

5:40-6:00 New Family (starting 24-25) Meet and Greet at the Peace Tree (The Peace Tree is the tree in the planter box right outside of the front office by the tables under the blue canopy)

6:00-7:00 Classrooms open

CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Progress and Performance) assessments will be taking place from April 15th-May 17th.  This is one great opportunity for students to show what they have learned throughout the year so we want students to try their best!  All students should get a good night's rest and be here for all days of testing.

Respectfully,

Principal Kobata

Better Together: March

In the month of March, #BetterTogether is taking a moment to honor the women trailblazers who shattered barriers and paved the way for future generations. As a way of honoring them, students in the district will also be learning about what it means to embody the spirit of being helpers for others, especially for others facing challenges and inequities. By standing #BetterTogether and amplifying the voices of women, we honor their legacy and continue to strive for a better world.
