Principal’s Message
Hi Families,
It is Native American Heritage Month and the district’s #BetterTogether theme is empathy so I want to take a moment to reflect on the significance of these together.
Native American Heritage Month provides us with an opportunity to celebrate and honor the rich, diverse cultures, and contributions of Native American people. The enduring legacies of Indigenous communities that have shaped our country.
Empathy is a core value that we value at Bubb. It means understanding and sharing in the feelings and perspectives of others. It is particularly important when we consider the experiences of Native American communities throughout history, including the injustices they have faced. It is through empathy that we can support one another. This goes along with our theme this year of Together Everyone Achieves More.
Let’s use this month to reflect on the role we play in promoting empathy. We want all members of our community to feel valued and respected.

Celebrating Native American Heritage Month
For student and staff safety, it's very important for our school to limit points of entry during school hours. As you know, we have been working on enabling the locks on our field gates during the school day. Beginning Nov. 27th, the field gates will be locked from the outside shortly after the last morning bell rings.
If you arrive after 8am, we will continue with our procedure of having all students report to the front office to get a late slip. The only entrance after 8 will be the front office so please head directly there.
Parents will be able access school field gates for students to pick up when the dismissal bell rings. The public will continue to have access to school fields on weekends and on weekday evenings after 4 p.m. at elementary schools and after 5 p.m. at middle schools. If the gates malfunction after hours, you can call (650) 526-3248 x1004. Thank you for supporting our safety procedures.

Drop off and Pick Up Safety
Thank you for your efforts to slow down and watch for pedestrians and bikers each morning. A reminder that the white curb on Barbara Avenue near the staff parking lot is a Drop Off Zone. Please do not park in the designated drop off area. Additionally, the Barbara Avenue parking lot is for Staff only. Do not drop off students in that parking lot.

Veterans’ Day: No school on Friday, Nov. 10
There is no school for students and staff on Friday, Nov. 10 in observance of Veterans’ Day. We honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces.
Parent University Speaker Series: Understanding Your Child’s Score Reports
Date and Time: November 28, 2023, 5:30-7pm

Understanding your child’s district and state test scores is a key part of building a foundation of excellence. Join Swati Dagar, our Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment as she discusses how to (i) access and interpret score reports and (ii) use the information to engage in a productive partnership with your child’s teacher(s).

Better Together: November
This month’s theme for #BetterTogetherMVWSD is Empathy. Empathy is fundamental in promoting understanding, compassion, and unity among individuals and communities. It enables us to connect with others on a deeper level, to share their joys and sorrows, and to stand in their shoes, even when we may not fully comprehend their experiences.
Recognizing United Against Hate Week is an important time of year as it underscores the need to combat discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry in all their forms. By participating in this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a community where empathy is not just a concept but a guiding principle that helps us build a world where people of all backgrounds can coexist harmoniously, free from fear and hatred. Join us as we recognize United Against Hate Week with activities and programming taking place November 13-17th at all school sites. The View Teen Center: November
The View Teen Center is a free facility in Mountain View (263 Escuela Ave) for all Mountain View and Los Altos 6th - 12th grade students. Drop-in hours are Monday - Friday, 3:15 - 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 1 - 6 p.m. (on no school days or minimum days, The View Teen Center is open 1-6 p.m.), and the center features a game room, makerspace, kitchen, computer/study room, outdoor area, and much more! MVHS Turkey Trot and Tree Lot
MVHS Sports Boosters will be hosting the 14th Annual Spartan Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, November 23rd) at Mountain View High School (3535 Truman Avenue). All proceeds benefit the MVHS athletics department. For more information about this event or to register for the 5K Walk/Run, Kids Run or Spartan Mile, visit https://www.spartanturkeytrot.com/.
MVHS Sports Boosters will be opening up the Annual Spartans Tree Lot on Friday, November 24 at 10 AM for the 2023 season at the Mountain View High School Stadium (3535 Truman Ave.). Spartans Tree Lot offers premium, top-quality trees ranging in size from 3 feet to 12+ feet, holiday decorations, and supplies. In person and online delivery options are available. PTA News
Walk (and roll): November 14:
Walk (and roll) to school to recognize the courage of Ruby Bridges. Learn more about Ruby Bridges day and have your student join us next Tuesday morning at one of the gates or under the Peace Tree to get your purple zip tie for walking (and rolling) to school.
We are also looking for volunteers to help pass out zip ties as well as helping students add comments to a poster under the Peace Tree (no previous knowledge/experience necessary).
Sports Basement Discount for Bubb Families: November 11-19
The Bubb PTA has organized a 20% discount at Sports Basement between November 11-19, 2023. While no proceeds will be donated back to the PTA, it’s an excellent opportunity to gear up for the winter. See the below flier for full information.
The Book Fair is Coming!
Parents, please consider helping at our annual Scholastic Book Fair. We set up before Thanksgiving and the book fair opens the week after Thanksgiving, just in time for holiday shopping. Reading Under the Stars: Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 6:00-7:00 pm in the MUR
It might be too chilly to read under the actual stars, but put on your PJs, bring a blanket, coat up and join us in the MUR for some bedtime stories by special guest readers, followed by cookies and milk. While you listen you can also browse the book fair which will be open for business.
