Principal’s Message

Hi Families!

CAASPP testing is around the corner!  This testing gives students an opportunity to show what they know, it provides data about Bubb to understand what we are doing well and areas we need to improve.

Grades 3-5 will start CAASPP testing from April 15th.  Bubb students will have a chance to practice using the testing platform and taking a practice test the weeks prior to spring break.

Schedule

  • Monday,  April 15th, 5th graders will be taking the science test.  5th graders will be the only grade level that starts testing on Mondays each week as they cannot test on Tuesday due to music and art.

  • All 3–5 Students will test in ELA the week of  April 22-26

  • Math on April 29-May 2.

  • Students will test before recess.  Please do not schedule appointments during this time.

As you know, CAASPP testing is one of the ways in which we measure our success for students. It is imperative that students are present, and do their best for testing each day.

Below are some tips you may find useful to help prepare your child for the CAASPP assessment:

  • Discuss the test with your child.

  • Provide encouragement each day.  Make sure he/she is not scared or anxious to take the tests.

  • Explain to your child that the test will have some questions that are more difficult than others and that they should try their best even when it seems difficult.

  • The test is one way for your student to show what has been learned this year.

  • Arrive at school on time and be here everyday.

  • Get a good night's sleep

  • Eat a healthy breakfast

  • Please keep electronic devices at home.  If they are at school, teachers will hold on to them until the end of the testing session daily.

Additionally, the Starting Smarter website is a great way to learn more about these tests and score reports. It also offers free resources to help students with areas that need improvement.

We also have Diversity Night coming up on Friday, March 29th, from 6:00-7:30pm.  This is put on by PTA and is an excellent way to recognize all the beautiful diversity in our Bubb community.  Students can create a trifold poster board about your heritage, bring artifiacts that represent you, make a plate of treats, or wear international dress.  Please help your student sign up

Respectfully,

Principal Kobata

Early Pick Up

If your child must leave early, an adult must come to the office and sign the student out. For security reasons, no one is allowed to go to the classroom to pick up students. The office will call the classroom to have the child come up to the office.  Students are released only to persons on the emergency card, unless we have a written note or a phone call from a parent whom we can identify. Kindergarten parents must notify the teacher if there is a change in the pickup person.
