Dear Families,

We are getting close to the start of the school year!  Hopefully you were able to join us for the Principal’s Coffee where I shared about Connected (Distance Learning) at Bubb.  If you were unable to attend, you can view the slides here. You can also view a recording of the meeting here.

In order to support Connected learning from home, we are distributing Chromebooks and materials to students.  (See below for the list of materials provided.)

Chromebook and Material Distribution Schedule

*Pick up materials at your designated time in front of the Bubb office.
*Everyone must wear a mask. *Physically distance while waiting in line.  Stay 6 feet apart. *Leave campus once you have picked up your materials to make space for others. *Do NOT come to campus if you have any COVID symptoms.

What you will receive:

• Chromebook
• Video and written instructions of how to log on to the chromebook and join the first Zoom class session
• Student workbooks for language arts, math, science, and social studies (grades K-2)
• District-Standard School Supplies:
• Pencils
• Sharpener
• Scissors
• Glue sticks
• Markers
• Crayons or colored pencils
• Highlighters
• White Board sleeves (sheet protectors), markers, and eraser
• Notebook(s) or journal(s) (depending on grade)
• Bag to store materials
• Eraser
• Index cards
• Paper (Blank, lined, and/or graph)
• Pens
• Ruler
• Headset
• Sticky Notes

It is likely that not all supply shipments will come in at the same time. Therefore, parents may be asked to pick up supplies at several distribution dates, in order to ensure students have items soon after delivery. Thanks in advance for your patience with multiple dates. 

If you had borrowed an MVWSD chromebook in the spring, please bring it back to Bubb during your scheduled materials distribution time.

Some Tips for Getting Ready for School

*Be the flight attendant.  You know when you’re flying and you hit turbulence?  If the flight attendant is still smiling and serving snacks, you know things will be OK.  If the flight attendant stops and buckles their seat belt, it might be time to worry.  Let your kids know how awesome Virtual School will be and they’ll follow your lead!
*Keep a routine: Start going to bed at a reasonable time and waking up early.  Lay out school clothes the night before.  Eat a good breakfast.

*Create a learning space.  It doesn’t have to be anything fancy.  Designate a space
where kids will join their Zoom sessions, complete their assignments, charge their
chromebooks, and store their school supplies.  Keeping the school supplies separate
from other supplies at home keeps them sacred and also helps kids distinguish between school time and play time.

School Schedule

*School begins Monday, August 17th at 8am.  The first day of school is a minimum day and will end at 11:55.

We will take attendance daily and office staff will be calling families if students are absent from their Zoom classes.  Please call or email the office if your child will be absent or tardy to school.

Kinder Pajama Jam! Monday, August 10th at 7pm.  Kinders--Come in PJs and come listen to me read aloud some stories before bedtime.  Register in advance for this meeting by clicking here.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
PTA-Hosted Virtual Popsicle Socials: Friday, August 14th.  The PTA is hosting 30 minute Zoom meetings for kids to meet their new classmates.  More information about how to join these socials can be found on the Bubb PTA page.  

MVWSD School Board meeting: Thursday, August 6th.  Information on how to view that Board Meeting can be found here.

Superintendent Community Check In: Friday, August 7, 3:30 pm.  Register in advance for this meeting by clicking here.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

¡Nos estamos acercando al comienzo del año escolar! Espero que hayas podido unirte

Es probable que no todos los envíos de suministros lleguen al mismo tiempo. Por lo

tanto, se les puede pedir a los padres que recojan suministros en varias fechas de

distribución, para asegurarse de que los estudiantes tengan artículos poco después del

parto. Gracias de antemano por su paciencia con múltiples fechas.

Si ha pedido prestado un Chromebook MVWSD en la primavera, tráigalo a Bubb

durante el tiempo de distribución de materiales programado.

Algunos consejos para prepararse para la escuela

*Sé la azafata. ¿Sabes cuándo estás volando y golpeas turbulencias? Si la

azafata sigue sonriendo y sirviendo bocadillos, sabrá que todo estará bien. Si la

azafata se detiene y se abrocha el cinturón de seguridad, tal vez sea hora de

preocuparse. ¡Hágales saber a sus hijos lo increíble que será la Escuela Virtual y

seguirán su ejemplo!

*Mantenga una rutina: comience a acostarse a una hora razonable y a levantarse

temprano. Extiende la ropa de la escuela la noche anterior. Come un buen

desayuno.

*Crea un espacio de aprendizaje. No tiene que ser nada elegante. Designe un

espacio donde los niños se unan a sus sesiones de Zoom, completen sus

tareas, carguen sus Chromebooks y almacenen sus útiles escolares. Mantener

los útiles escolares separados de otros suministros en el hogar los mantiene

sagrados y también ayuda a los niños a distinguir entre el horario escolar y el

tiempo de juego.

La escuela comienza el lunes 17 de agosto a las 8am. El primer día de clases

es un día mínimo y terminará a las 11:55.

11:30-12:30 Lonche

1:30 Salida de Kindergarten

2:20 Salida de 1º - 5º grados

Asistiremos a diario y el personal de la oficina llamará a las familias si los estudiantes

están ausentes de sus clases de Zoom. Llame o envíe un correo electrónico a la oficina

si su hijo estará ausente o tarde a la escuela.

Estoy muy emocionado por el año nuevo. Aquí hay algunas formas de conectarse y / u

obtener más información sobre el próximo año escolar:
