Principal’s Message

Dear Bubb Families,

The District has started its annual process of updating the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan). This input collected will guide the update of our District plan for the 2025-26 school year. Your input is very important in helping Bubb plan for next year and in the creation of the SPSA (The School Plan For Student Achievement).  You should have received your link.  This link is unique to your household and can be completed by only one parent/guardian. Your responses are confidential. Students in grades 4-8 and staff members will also be taking the LCAP survey.  Please respond by 02/14.  To learn more about the LCAP: https://www.mvwsd.org/LCAP.  Please reach out if you have issues with your survey.

Gentle reminder, we have 50% of our students whohave completed registration for enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.  If you haven't yet completed, do so before next Friday, February 7.

This week, we have been participating in “The Great Kindness Challenge”.  More than 121 countries are joining this challenge.  Our Bubb Cubs have been focusing on kindness in their class and taking part in kindness activities at lunch, by making hearts of kindness and snack bags decorated with kindness for Hope’s Corner. Bubb is a wonderful and welcoming community, and we continue to reinforce our Bubb way!

We shall end our week by celebrating the Lunar New Year at lunch with the PTA.  And in February, we will be acknowledging Black History Month.  Thank you for being great partners in our work!

In Community,

Principal Jung

School News

Science at Bubb

Please read what our Bubb Cubs are learning about in STEAM:

Kindergarten: Weather

Kindergarteners have recently been on a deep dive of seasonal weather patterns and the ways humans, plants, and animals adapt. Some days it is sunny all day. Other days, it’s cloudy. Sometimes we get big storms. The weather forecast lets us know what’s coming. Coming up, students will be taking an interesting look at severe weather and exploring how to plan for it.

1st Grade: Sky Patterns

Currently 1st graders are investigating the question: Where Is the Moon in the Sky? And acting as detectives to solve the mystery of the day time moon. Students will design a flip book that shows the different phases of the moon each month as well as a moon calendar showing where the moon will appear in the sky each night. Coming up, students will be taking a look beyond the moon to our solar system.

2nd Grade: Earth’s Surface

This trimester 2nd grade students explore the Earth’s surface and how it changes over time both rapidly and slowly. Recently our 2nd graders have been focused on map concepts and skills while designing and building their own models. They can identify parts of a map and are developing an understanding of scale. Coming up, 2nd graders will be focused on uncovering evidence of the ways both wind and water change the land and the ramifications of those changes.

3rd Graders are  finishing up the Weather Unit (Earth Science) and about to head into Living Things and the Environment (Life Science)

4th Graders will be starting Earth's Changing Surface unit (Earth Science)  where they will learn about erosion, weathering and deposition as well as the impact of humans on earth.

5th Graders are beginning the  Earth, the Moon and the Stars (Earth Science) unit where they will be learning about the sun and why it is brighter, day/night, earth's rotation and revolution, etc.
