Dear Families,
COVID pooled testing begins on Monday, October 18, 2021. All Bubb cubs who have parent consent will be tested on Mondays between 10-2 with their classes.
Here is our process:
*Students line up outside on socially distanced marks. Everyone sanitizes hands.
*Students lower their masks one group of 3-5 students at a time. Students are handed a sterile swab and swab their own noses, 4 times in each nostril.
*Students place their own swab into the collection vial.
*Students sanitize and go back to class.
If a class’s pool test comes back positive:
*Parents will be notified by email immediately.
*Students who have testing consent and are asymptomatic may return to school and will be re-tested individually on Wednesday morning. If the test comes back negative, students may continue to attend school on a modified quarantine, but must not attend any extracurricular activities (including after school care on campus).
*Students who do not have testing consent may NOT return to school until parents provide proof of a negative COVID test.
*Students who test positive and students who are symptomatic must stay home and will receive quarantine and isolation instructions.
There are several benefits to consenting for pooled testing: You help slow the transmission at school and if there is a positive case in your child’s class, your child will miss fewer school days because they can test at school. If you would like to update your consent, please contact the front office. We pull names for each week’s pooled testing the Wednesday before.
Please plan on attending the next Principal’s Coffee: Friday 10/22 @ 9:00 am. Zoom link. I will be reviewing our emergency safety procedures and after school tutoring options per our district’s Learning Recovery Plan, and have time to answer any questions.
In addition to these coffees, I’m always available to chat on the phone or through email, or at drop off or pick up at the car circle.
We are planning a Halloween parade for students only on 10/29. Parents are not allowed on campus to view, but we will post some pictures on our school Facebook and Instagram accounts! Your child's teacher will let you know if students may wear their costumes all day or will need to change for the parade. If you do not want your child to participate in the parade, please let us know. We will have alternate activities for students.
Research has shown that October is always a tough month for educators. Please take a moment to thank a teacher or staff member. They have been doing an amazing job keeping the kids safe, engaged, and learning.

Lost and Found
Is your student missing a sweater, jacket, lunch box, or thermos? Remind your student to check the lost and found located in the hallway at the second wing of classrooms. Parents can also check in the evenings or weekends. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity at the end of the trimester.

Join Instructional Coaches Melanie Stanley, and Katie Stern share creative tips and strategies to better support your child in their literacy skills. Better Together: Seeking Multiple Perspectives
The focus of October’s Better Together infographic is “Seeking Multiple Perspectives.” When individuals examine issues from a different point of view, they are able to think more critically and question dominant beliefs. Health and Wellness: Parenting Series
It is natural for us to pay attention to behaviors that are irritating, worrisome, or make us want to disappear from embarrassment. Usually, when our child is calm, quiet, and self-entertained, we breathe a sigh of relief. However, this inadvertently teaches our child that they can get our attention by being disruptive. The good news is that we can reverse this pattern by paying attention to our child’s positive behaviors.
To praise positive behaviors:
By praising something positive that your child is doing each morning and evening (for example, “Good job sharing with your sibling”). We are used to noticing disruptive behaviors, so praising your child’s positive behaviors will take some practice and patience – but will ultimately benefit both you and your child.
This tip came directly from the free, online Everyday Parenting program created by parenting expert, Dr. Kazdin.

Mentor Tutor Connection Volunteer Information Session - Thursday, October 14th

Eviction Help Center at MV Public Library
The City of Mountain View hosts a help center at the MV Public Library with city staff, CSA, and Project Sentinel to provide residents with rent assistance, eviction help, legal resources, and other support services. There are multiple representatives that speak Spanish. The help center is available every Thursday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Public Library on the 2nd Floor, Room 205.
