Principal’s Message
Dear Bubb Families,
Can you believe December is upon us? I hope you had a wonderful break and good rest. We are gearing up for a strong finish to 2024, and students are currently taking their iReady Diagnostic #2. Data will be ready for your viewing on Monday, December 9, and our scores will be shared with the Board on Thursday, December 19.
December is also Special Education Awareness Month. We recognize Bubb to be a place of inclusion and strive to make our community welcoming to all. Bubb Cubs will be hearing in library texts about Special Education awareness and the laws. Ms. Kiera has also shared some facts with us about Special Education in her message this month.
Please be sure to visit our Book Fair this week! We thank the PTA for their work and for bringing this to our site. Each class will have a chance to visit, and students may shop during lunch. Families are also welcome afterschool. The PTA will be gifting a book to each student. Thank you for supporting Bubb!
In Community,
Principal Jung

Counselor’s Update
Special Education Awareness Month is an important time to recognize and celebrate the unique needs and strengths of students with disabilities. This month highlights the importance of understanding and embracing what makes us unique which acknowledges the wide range of brain differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological variations. By promoting awareness and inclusion, we can create environments where all students, regardless of their cognitive or learning differences, are supported and empowered to reach their full potential. It’s a time to emphasize the value of diverse minds and the role that educators, families, and communities play in fostering understanding and acceptance.
Please read these facts surrounding special education:
-
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law that was enacted in 1976 that provides free and appropriate public education for students with disabilities ages 3-21.
-
Students served under the IDEA in 2023-24 were reported to be 7.5 million students in the U.S.
-
Using person centered language when speaking can help respect unique qualities of an individual. Example: stating “a person with autism” instead of “an autistic person”.

Prop 28 - Arts and Music in Schools Funding
California schools will now receive additional funding for arts and music each year. In addition to our current arts programs, our school will soon have an additional annual budget of approximately $41,000 to spend on more arts and music experiences for students, and we need your ideas!
There will be two main ways to share your thoughts:
-
Please click here for a brief survey about potential future arts programming. (The students and staff will be given similar surveys at school). This survey will be open until December 15.
-
Come and hear more about Prop 28 and give input on this topic at these upcoming meetings:
-
Principal’s Coffee, January 25, 2025, 8:15am
-
SSC Meeting, January 23, 2025, 4:00pm, via Google Meet: meet.google.com/igw-pgnf-cuo
-

Your input is valued and an important part of our process. To learn more about Proposition 28, click here.
Cell Phone and SmartWatch Reminders
Please remind your student the guidelines for personal devices as outlined in our Handbook:
Student cell phones and/or Smart Watches must be turned off and kept in backpacks during the school day. Students who use their devices during school hours will be given a warning the first time. The second time, parents will be notified and the device will be taken away and returned after school. The third time the device will be confiscated and will be held in the office for parent to pick up.
If your student needs to communicate home, they may come to the office to use the phone. If parents need to communicate with their student, they may call the office and we will get the message to your student.
