February 9, 2022 Bulletin

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:

Dear Families,

Our Student Leadership is a dedicated group of 4th and 5th graders who meet twice a month to plan fun activities and spirit days for our Bubb Cubs.  While planning these activities, students learn how to cooperate with others, communicate effectively, and create a timeline.  Student council has two exciting events happening next week:

  1. 2/14-2/18 is Kindness Week.  Students will be given a Kindness BINGO card.  Complete all the Kindness activities on the card to earn a prize.

  2. 2/14-2/18 is also Spirit Week!  Students are encouraged to participate in as many of these days as they’d like:

    1. Monday 2/14: Smiley Face Day--Dress up in smiley clothes, smile at others, and pick up a smiley face sticker at the Peace tree during lunch recess.

    2. Tuesday 2/15: Mismatched Day--Wear clothes that don’t match, are inside out, etc.

    3. Wednesday 2/16: Anything but a Backpack Day--Bring your supplies in anything except for a backpack.  This one might be more challenging, but it might be fun to see what kids think of!

    4. Thursday 2/17: Pajama Day--A classic

    5. Friday 2/18: College/Sports Team Day

Friday 2/18 also marks the end of the second trimester.  All students will be participating in a fun, school-wide Amazing Race that culminates in the bubble party that they earned from the Read-a-thon!  Friday 2/18 is also a minimum day for students with dismissal at 11:55.

We want to hear from you! LCAP meetings and survey

The District is beginning its annual process of updating the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan). The input collected will guide the update of our District plan for the 2022-23 school year. You participating in the process will help our school by ensuring that our school's needs are considered as the LCAP is revised for the 2022-23 school year.

If you have not already, please take a moment to complete the survey about the plans' goals. Access the survey here: http://mvw.sd/LCAPParent

Please join me to learn more about the LCAP process at these upcoming meetings:

  • SSC and ELAC Meeting, 2/7 @ 4:00 pm

  • Principal’s Coffee, 2/10 @ 9:00am (Zoom link)

More information about LCAP is here: https://www.mvwsd.org/lcap

Please join me for my next Principal’s Coffee, 2/10 @ 9:00am (Zoom link).  In addition to talking about the district LCAP, I will talk about our process for slowly and carefully introducing on-campus volunteers, and our upcoming Family Education series: Allies Against Racism.

In partnership,

Principal Cyndee

February Better Together Infographic

In the month of February, there is much to celebrate and acknowledge. The Lunar New Year reminds us of the power of rebirth and renewal, while Black History Month gives us the opportunity to recognize the resilience of those on the shoulders we stand, along with the cultural richness of those identifying as Black in America and across the world. Heritage months grant us the opportunity to highlight the history of oppressed groups and their fight towards equality, but renewal and Black excellence transcend just this month. However we celebrate, we are #BetterTogether.
