Walkathon FAQs

Small Steps Make a Big Difference

For returning Bubb families, the annual Walkathon is an eagerly anticipated event. If you are new to Bubb, you may need a little guidance to understand how it all works.

What is the Walkathon?
The Walkathon is the most important fundraiser for the Bubb PTA. The Walkathon raises most of the funds that allow the PTA to continue funding art, music, and many other programs for our kids during the year. The PTA has budgeted $20K this year for student field trips – without these funds the students would not have any field trips. The Walkathon raises funds through the silent auction, t-shirt sales, snack sales, and most especially the students collecting pledges for the laps they walk. In addition to fundraising, the Walkathon is a fun event that allows Bubb students, families and teachers to build school spirit and have lots of fun together. Please help your child collect pledges. Pledge forms are available in the office or on the Bubb School website, http://bubb.mvwsd.k12.ca.us/pta.htm.


When does it start?
Walkathon begins at officially begins at 2:45pm. At dismissal, parents will sign the Walkathon waiver form and your child’s teacher will check-in students whose parents are on campus with them. You and your child are welcome to stay and start walking, or you may leave and come back later in the day. There are prizes for every child who walks laps, no matter how many. Before you leave for the day, please check-out at the registration table so your childs laps can be recorded and they will receive their participation prizes.


Can we leave and come back?
Yes. Be sure to bring the lap card. If you did not sign a waiver form for your child at dismissal, you will need to sign a waiver and get checked in at the registration table near the Walkathon course.


Can we bring grandparents?
Yes! All family members, including grandparents, are welcome to attend, buy from the concessions and the Silent Auction!


What food is available?
There will be snacks available for purchase. Popcorn, water, soft drinks, and juice boxes will be sold starting at 3:05pm. For dinner, there will be choices of Taquiza Mexican dinner with choice of beef and chicken tacos and rice, Pizza, and Caesar salad. Baked good and coffee will be sold for dessert. In addition, Dippin’ Dots ice cream will be available. Food will be sold through pre-event ticket sales – please see this website for the Ticket Order Form. Although you will be able to buy tickets for the food concessions at the event, we encourage you to pre-purchase your tickets for food, to make your afternoon easier (and money free).


What is available at the Silent Auction?
The Silent Auction has theme Baskets donated by each classroom, by Teachers and from local businesses. There are also theme parties for children and parents – both Moms and Dads. This year we have Winery tours, Dads Night at Shoreline Billiards, Bunco party, Lego engineering party, Movie Night with home baked Cookies, One Honey of a Time party learning about bees, with Arts n Crafts, and then honey extraction from honeycombs, a trip to the SF Design Gallery to look and/or purchase, weekend at Lake Tahoe Townhouse, and much more.


When does the Walkathon end?
The Walkathon is officially over at 7pm. Before you leave, make sure your child turns in their lap card at the registration table to receive their participation prizes.
